Academic upskilling and engagement programs are those that support children to obtain the necessary grades, skills, and self-confidence to succeed in school. This helps ensure that students are academically prepared and equipped to pursue post-secondary education.
Examples of academic upskilling and engagement activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Programs that support academic success (e.g. homework help, tutoring)
- Programs that support school engagement and attachment (e.g. non-traditional approaches to learning, experiential learning, school attendance incentives)
- Programs that support interest in learning (e.g. extra curricular programs)
- Programs that build self confidence and motivation (e.g. mentoring, programs that improve soft skills)
